Village Awarded More Than $1.8 Million in Funding for Water Quality Improvement
State grants will support stormwater management improvements, sewer infrastructure rehabilitation, and protection of the Susquehanna River.
The Village of Endicott has been awarded $1,859,770 in combined New York State grant funding to support two water quality improvement projects that strengthen local infrastructure, improve stormwater management, and protect the environment for future generations.
The funding is part of a statewide announcement made by Governor Kathy Hochul on Oct. 30, 2026, awarding more than $249 million to 181 water quality protection projects across New York State.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) administers the grants through its Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) program, which helps communities improve water infrastructure, reduce pollution, and protect critical water resources.
The Village of Endicott received funding for two projects that will address important infrastructure and environmental needs within the community.
Stormwater Management Improvements — $820,050
This project will include the installation of five stormwater tree trenches and the conversion of more than one acre of impervious pavement into pervious surfaces and landscaped areas.
These improvements are designed to capture, absorb, and treat stormwater runoff before it enters local drainage systems and waterways. By reducing surface runoff, the project will help improve water quality while incorporating additional green infrastructure into the community.
Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation — $1,039,720
The second grant will support the rehabilitation of sewer system defects in high-priority areas of Endicott and Vestal.
These improvements will address existing infrastructure deficiencies and help reduce the potential for pollutants to enter local waterways, contributing to improved water quality in the Susquehanna River.
Maintaining and upgrading sewer infrastructure is an important part of protecting public health, preserving the environment, and ensuring the long-term reliability of essential municipal services.
These investments represent an important opportunity for the Village of Endicott to continue improving its infrastructure while protecting the natural resources that are vital to the Southern Tier.
By addressing aging sewer infrastructure and implementing modern stormwater management practices, the Village is taking steps toward a more resilient and sustainable community.
The Village of Endicott appreciates New York State's continued investment in local infrastructure and environmental protection. These grant awards will help support improvements that benefit residents, businesses, and future generations.
